Lontano is the ultimate Explorer yacht, designed to navigate through all sea conditions in safety, comfort and luxury. Lontano – that means “far away” in Italian – takes its name from the idea of traveling and exploring the ocean, reflecting a new living dimension. M/Y Lontano investigates the possibility of living on board introducing a new living dimension: Travelling. The exploration theme is the expression of an established trend, but also the translation of a new way of conceiving the yacht life. The 258 ft. yacht was designed on the hull of a Platform Supply Vessel, with a particular reverse bow. Thanks to the conversion of the workboat all the technical spaces and the crew areas have been kept as in the original layout, sized for long-range navigation. Through the refitting of the existing areas and the addition of new superstructures and spaces onboard, the original ship was transformed into a real ocean-going expedition superyacht.

Elementary and clean lines give strength and power to the exterior design of the yacht, that draws inspiration from military vessels, giving Lontano a striking and imposing silhouette. Since the first sketches, the exteriors lines have been designed following a geometrical and clean style, taking inspiration from the world of Explorer Yachts and Research/Patrol/Military vessels. The main goal was to respect the original vessel water lines, creating an harmonious relation between the new superstructures and the existing hull. The X-Bow, the high bulwark, the straight superstructures and the massive square wheelhouse dominating the entire hull are the key aspects that characterize the exterior design. The unique style and design of Lontano communicate all the suggestions of expedition and adventure through all sea conditions. The ultimate smart, conscious and safe way to navigate and experience the sea 365 days.

The balance between the exterior shapes, lines and volumes was achieved through a constant dialogue between the interior spaces and the external environment. Everything comes to life with the definition of the living spaces for the guests and the functional spaces on board. The theme of “Travel” is also a key aspect of the interior design philosophy, that explores stylistic and cultural contaminations and functions of use of spaces, mirroring different philosophies and traditions in sophisticated and versatile environments. The materials selection and the color palette is elegant and harmonious, to travel for a long time always surrounded by a familiar, refined and reassuring habitat. Another key aspect of the interior design is the importance of spaces for everyday use. The concept of the yacht as a “home” – as well as a playful vehicle of transport – is certainly an integral part of our design philosophy and our goals. A great importance was given to workspaces and education on board, as well as to the design of hybrid and versatile environments. Each space must be able to adapt and evolve over time, together with those who use it, but always maintaining their own identity and functional connotation.

The main features of the original workboat have been kept as they were: in the forward part – which has remained almost unchanged – there are the crew areas and the engine room, arranged on the different decks; the additional superstructures are then dedicated to the common rooms and guest cabins. There are two main vertical connections, both equipped with a staircase and a lift: the first is located mid-ship and allows guests access to all the decks of the yacht; the second is located forward, and it serves the crew areas through the entire yacht.

Designed for long family cruises, Lontano accommodates 12 guests in 6 bright, extra-large cabins. Two observation lounges, forward and aft, make every moment of navigation unforgettable, which is an integral part of the experience on board. Guests find space to relax on the Sun deck with jacuzzi and the beach club in the aft, which includes a 9-meter indoor swimming pool, a large gym, spa and massage room. There are plenty of toys on board, for every kind of adventure, such as the amphibious ATV, the U-boat Worx submarine and the helicopter with certified helipad and equipped hangar for refueling. It also hosts two 9-metre tenders that can be deployed and retrieved by crane, two tender garages for jet-skis, scuba gear and many other exciting toys. Everything is designed to make every day on board Lontano unforgettable.
